Launching a Direct Booking Channel in Four Weeks

Sequencing configuration, agent training and go-live so the first sale happens before the full scope is finished.

  • Foundation → pricing & sales → assisted channels → operations → intelligence
  • Customer flow can go live before every configuration screen is finished
  • Counter and call-centre sell from the same inventory from day one

Week 1 — Foundation: assets, routes, categories, seat maps

  • Model your vessels, vehicles or rooms as assets with their categories and seat maps first — everything else depends on this
  • Routes and time slots come next; get the recurring schedule right before touching pricing
  • Resist configuring every edge case in week one — a working core beats a complete one that is not live yet

Week 2 — Pricing & the customer flow

  • Fare codes by season, weekday and category, previewed on the fare calendar before going live
  • Coupons configured with validity and usage caps so a promo does not need a developer next month
  • The customer search-to-payment flow is what should be demoable at the end of week two

Week 3 — Assisted channels

  • Agent booking hub configured with the filter bar and guest lookup your call-centre actually needs
  • Payment links and counter payment modes turned on for the channels you sell through today
  • Back-office holds for VIP or event bookings, so those do not get sold accidentally once the desk sells live

Week 4 — Operations and go-live

  • Sailing/trip setup populated for the go-live window, with QR check-in and boarding tested at a real gate
  • Refund and cancellation policy configured before the first real cancellation happens, not after
  • Live booking dashboard turned on so day one is visible in real time, not reconstructed after the fact

What comes after week four

  • Booking analytics and reports once there is enough data for a trend to mean anything
  • The hand-off into Service CRM for refund and delay tickets, so post-booking support has context
  • White-label domain and branding, and any partner API distribution, sized to your actual demand
